In Party Mode, Word challenges are unlocked after completing a number of rounds. Once unlocked, the host can enable word challenge before starting the round. The word challenge happens after players finish finding words, but before scores are revealed. It contains the most unique words found during the round, and players who submitted them are not immediately revealed. 

Each player can choose to challenge one word or pass. When a word is challenged, the player who found that word during gameplay must explain or use it in a sentence. The Challenger then decides to accept or reject the word.

If the challenge is successful (word rejected), the word loses its double score bonus for this round. The host can enable a setting from their controller to display a definition for the challenged word once it has been judged. Keep in mind that many words have multiple meanings, and the one displayed is often not the only correct answer for the challenge. It’s okay to tell a convincing fib in order to score those juicy points!

Scoring resumes once all challenges and passes are complete.
