If you are the host, you can transfer this role to another connected player. Just enter the ☰ Settings menu on your controller, tap “Change Host” and select another connected player. The new host will be notified about this on their controller! If a current host gets disconnected, the host role will automatically be reassigned to the next player, who was the second player to join.
